What to Expect

For testing and therapy, after initial contact, you will be sent a referral packet that must be completed before 1st appointment can be scheduled. (now seeing youth- 16 and over)

For all cases, an initial interview (or consult) will be completed (video is an option) after which a plan will be put in place to move forward (i.e., next appointment or testing authorization).

After testing is authorized by insurance and/or arranged via private pay, the testing process itself can take from 1 to 6 weeks (this varies on a number of factors) and sometimes longer if collateral information is required).

All testing cases are provided an in person feedback session with the psychologist as well as a written report.

A sliding scale option is available on a case by case basis.

What Can a Neuropsychological Evaluation Do for You

A Neuropsychological Evaluation Uses Scientifically Derived Tests and Observations to Examine Certain Aspects of an Individual's Thoughts, Feelings and Behavior.

This Information is then Gathered Together with a Thorough Background and History in Order to Provide Answers to Questions Around an Individual's Current Functioning.

If You Have Questions About Recent Changes and/or Longstanding Problematic in the Functioning of a Family Member or Friend or, If you are a Caregiver or Other Service Provider with These Questions, a Neuropsychological Evaluation Can Help.

All assessment methods at Farmington Psychology are empirically driven and represent best practice in the clinical field. All recommendations and conclusions are presented in a supportive and listener centered manner.

"Why do I need a neuropsychological evaluation? I already know I've got a problem."

This a question I have heard repeatedly over the years. Much of the time, people with attention and executive related disorders, such as ADHD, know this is a problem for them but have learned to "live with it" through grit and perseverance, sheer willpower.

The purpose of a neuropsychological evaluation is to use data to highlight all the different ways the disorder impacts your functioning every day (often times without you even knowing it).

By undergoing an evaluation, I can explain to you what those details look like in the "real world" and what can be done to address them going forward.

People are often surprised to learn how these details have been impacting them their entire lives but they had just written it off as "that's just me being me".

Well, it is just you being you, but it might be helpful to understand the reasons behind the difficulty in order to change what we can and more importantly, accept who we are. - Charles
